Grace Prayer

By God's grace, I seek to be part of a community that helps me grow towards greater love

Prayer of Gratitude

Take a few minutes to consider the past week and then do a prayer of thanksgiving together for the things that stirs in your hearts. Use whichever prayer method you desire (small groups, silence, larger group, written down, etc)

EXAMEN

Where in the past week did you sense God’s involvement or closeness?

Where in the past week did you sense God’s absence or felt disconnected?

Taking it Deeper

Taking it Deeper

  • What do you remember about our time together last week?
  • Is there any new insight you’ve gathered during the rest of the week regarding the topic of our discussion?
  • How did you experience the exercise?

We Re- Read:  Proverbs 12:15, Proverbs 11:14, Proverbs 19:20, Proverbs 27:9, Proverbs 15:31-33

Proverbs 12:15 – The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.

Proverbs 11:14 – Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.

Proverbs 19:20 – Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.

Proverbs 27:9 – Oil and perfume make the heart glad, and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel.

Proverbs 15:31-33 – The ear that listens to life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise.  Whoever ignores instruction despises himself, but he who listens to reproof gains intelligence.  The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor.

Reflection Questions

What can you do to grow in your own ability to be wise council? Which part of your life do you feel invited to seek more wise council in? What are some of the excuses you use in order to just follow your own advice?
